Real Stories.Lasting Change.Regional Progress.

Real People. Real Impact.

Stories of collaboration, growth, and lasting change across the Kootenay-Boundary.

At LCCDTS, impact isn’t just measured in reports and results—it’s seen in the people, projects, and partnerships that shape everyday life in the Kootenay-Boundary. From local farmers and entrepreneurs to municipal leaders and grassroots organizers, our work touches every corner of the community.

As a collaborative hub for community development, our role often happens behind the scenes—connecting the right people, unlocking funding, providing structure, or simply helping an idea take its first steps. But the results? They speak for themselves.

This is a showcase for the voices of those we’ve worked alongside—community members, partners, and project leaders—who have seen firsthand how LCCDTS helps turn vision into impact.

Whether it’s helping a new community garden take root, supporting economic development in the clean-tech sector, or making regional immigration more accessible—we’re proud to play a role in building a more vibrant, connected, and resilient region.

Having an economic development office in our region has been highly beneficial to RED Mountain Resort in several key ways. The creation of the Metal Tech Alley brand has given us a compelling narrative to share with investors—demonstrating that we are part of a forward-thinking region in Canada, rich in economic potential and characterized by strong collaboration between business and community leaders.

Just as RED Mountain continues Rossland’s legacy of skiing culture, Metal Tech Alley builds on our region’s long-standing heritage of metallurgy and innovation. From the construction of Western Canada's first ski lift by mining engineers to today’s spirit of innovation and partnership within Metal Tech Alley, this historical and economic context strengthens RED Mountain Resort’s appeal to investors across the Real Estate, Tourism, Hospitality, and Ski Industry sectors.

The reason that I was so attracted to the Lower Columbia Community Development Team Society is that there is an equal emphasis on community development and economic development.

In a region like ours, economic development and diversification is crucial to our prosperity, and access to healthcare, housing, education and a vibrant community life supports existing community members and attracts newcomers to our wonderful community.

Just a few examples include community members working together to create affordable housing, a new community health centre and vibrant community markets in Rossland, Trail and Fruitvale. These are just a few examples of the wonderful additions to our region that have their roots in the LCCDTS.

Metal Tech Alley has been instrumental to the success of battery recycling in our region. As CEO of the leading recycler in Western Canada, I often had to navigate public policy as we added capacity.

The Metal Tech Alley team was instrumental, as they ensured that policy-makers understood the community’s economic plan, which embraced battery recycling. In fact, often key elected officials were brought to tour our facility by the Metal Tech Alley team, resulting in long-term cooperation between government and industry.
